John Mudgett of Brentwood, a Proprietor of Gilmanton, m. Susan Scribner, and had John, Joseph, Benjamin, Simeon, William, Samuel, Edward Scribner and Susanna, who m. Gilman Lougee.

Benjamin Mudgett  m. Hannah Bean Dec. 1st, 1761, and was the first settler in Gilmanton, and Samuel his son was the first male child born in town. John was the second settle; Simeon also became an inhabitant of the town. Edward Scribner b. 1745, m. Sarah, daughter of Richard Smith of Exeter, Nov. 10, 1770, who was born June 21st, 1749, and moved to Gilmanton in March, 1771, where they had Susan, Polly, Edward, Samuel, Richard, Sally, Theodore, Dolly, Mary, Edward Gould, Gilman and Judith.

John Mudgett, son of John Mudgett of Brentwood, was the brother of Benjamin and Scribner, and was the second settler who arrived in town, Dec. 27, 1761.
